What is Telemedicine?

Telemedicine allows patients to consult a doctor remotely using a phone call or video call, without needing to travel to a clinic or hospital.

It is useful when the doctor can safely assess the concern using the patient’s symptoms, medical history, previous reports, photos, videos, and available home measurements such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or blood sugar readings.

However, telemedicine is not suitable for every medical problem. If physical examination, urgent treatment, or emergency care is needed, the patient may be advised to visit the OPD, arrange a home visit, or go to the nearest emergency unit.
